Congress and CPI(M) today protested against the hike in railway fair and accused BJP-led NDA government of pursuing anti-people policies bypassing Parliament.
"When Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujurat, he had protested the rail fare hike and had written to then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding its immediate withdrawal. But now, he is pursuing those anti-people policies. This shows the true colour of the new regime," Leader of the Opposition Surya Kanta Mishra said at a protest rally here.
WBPCC President and former Minister of State for Railways Adhir Chowdhury said, "The way railway fares have been increased shows how Parliament has been bypassed and the fares increased from the back door. After coming to power, Narendra Modi had said good days had arrived, now it seems that bad days have started."
SUCI members demonstrated outside Raj Bhawan and clashed with the police when they were dispersed.
