An ugly spat broke out between Sirhoi district collector V Sarvan Kumar and former Congress MLA Sanyam Lodha over the issue of alleged irregularities in the functioning of the district hospital here.

The incident, which took place last week, came to light after a video clip showing the two having an arguing got viral on social networking websites.

In the video, an aggressive Lodha is purportedly seen calling the collector a "fool" at his office, to which the latter raised an objection and asked him to mind his language.

"There are several irregularities in the district hospital and many posts of doctors as well as nursing staff are lying vacant.

"After a demonstration last week, I went to the collector's office to hand over a representation addressed to the Governor but he did not pay heed and his conduct was not proper. Therefore, I had to use strict language," Lodha said.

The former Congress MLA said he had to be a little "rude" as the Collector was not taking any action in the matter.

In the video, the former MLA is heard telling the collector that he doesn't deserve to be at the post, to which Kumar replies, "Doesn't matter, you don't deserve to be a neta (politician) in this case."

Lodha is then heard saying, ".. You are speaking like this... You are a fool, not a collector."

Justifying his rudeness, Lodha said there had been a delay of four days in the medical examination of two rape victims in May because of the lack of facilities.

"It is for the Collector in the district to look after all these things. It is because of the conduct of the Collector that I had to use such kind of language," he said.

When contacted, the Collector said the issue of filling vacant posts of the doctors was an old one.

"I had accepted their representation but what happened next is in public domain. I have nothing to comment on his conduct," Kumar said.
