: Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu today said the Social Welfare Department is implementing several welfare programmes for the benefit of the differently abled to promote self employment projects and also to encourage marriages between them and normal persons
Handing over a cash incentive of Rs 25,000 today to each of 12 couples (one of whom is a differently abled), he said these programmes would go a long way in infusing confidence and act as a fillip for couples to live on the same lines as normal couples.
He also presented Rs 50,000 to each of the two couples in which both are differently abled persons.
Rajavelu presented monthly cash assistance of Rs 9000 each seven differently abled persons under a scheme of the Department.
