The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation today launched the first precast span girder for the 13.88 km long Badarpur�YMCA Chowk Metro corridor.
DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh oversaw the launch of the 150-ton weight and 27 m long U-girder, which was lifted by two cranes and placed on the viaduct near the proposed Old Faridabad Metro station.
This fully elevated corridor will have nine stations in which a total number of 548 piers and 883 U-Girders will be used. It is likely to be operational by the end of 2014.

This corridor is an extension of the already operational 20.16 km long Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor of Line -6 which is further extended from Central Secretariat to Kashmere Gate covering 9.36 km.
Once fully operational, Line-6 will be running from Kashmere Gate to YMCA Chowk having a length of 43.40 km and 32 Metro stations. Of these, five will be interchange stations namely, Kashmere Gate, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, Lajpat Nagar and Kalkaji Metro Station.
DMRC Director (Project and Planning), D K Saini and Director (Works), Jitendra Tyagi were also present at the site.
