A six-year-old gaur drowned
after it got trapped in slush in a dam in the foothills of Western Ghats in the district today.
The gaur, weighing one tonne, could not swim as it got stuck in the slush in the Kuthiraiyaaru Dam and died, forest officials said.
It was pulled out of the dam with the help of earth mover and buried after a post-mortem by a veterinarian, Forester Venkatachalam said.
