Gujarat Assembly Speaker today revoked the suspension of two Congress MLAs, who were suspended on February 23 for the rest of the ongoing session for allegedly trying to attack some ministers and BJP MLAs.

Assembly Speaker Ramanlal Vora revoked the suspension of Baldevji Thakor and Paresh Dhanani on the request of state Parliamentary and Legislative Affairs Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja.

Jadeja's proposal was supported by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and senior Congress MLA Shaktisinh Gohil, after which Vora revoked the suspension with immediate effect.

"Whatever happened in the past is history. We are of the opinion that members of this House should sit inside, not outside," Patel said.

Thakor and Dhanani were suspended from the House for the remaining period of the budget session for allegedly attacking ministers and BJP MLAs. Dhanani represents Amreli seat, while Thakor represents Kalol assembly segment.

They were suspended on the charges of trying to attack BJP MLAs and ministers Nirmala Wadhwani and Vallabh Kakadiya.

Following a heated exchange of words between the MLAs of both the parties during Question Hour on February 23, the Speaker adjourned the House for an indefinite period and left the floor.

Soon after his exit, the House witnessed chaotic scenes. Congress members accused BJP MLAs Kanti Amrutiya and Praful Pansheriya of using abusive language against them. Several Congress MLAs challenged both the BJP legislators to face them.

The matter took an ugly turn when Thakor, who was being escorted out of the House, suddenly rushed towards the treasury benches from behind the Speaker's chair and allegedly tried to attack Pansheriya and Amrutiya.

Transport Minister Vallabh Kakadiya, who tried to stop him and others, fell on the floor as he was allegedly pushed by Thakor. Women and Child Development minister Nirmala Wadhwani, who was sitting next to Kakadiya, alleged that she also sustained injury on her arm after being pushed by Thakor.
