Hand grenade defused by J&K police

A live hand grenade was today destroyed by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of Jammu and Kashmir police after it was found lying on the roadside in Trehgam area of Kupwara district, police said.
The live hand grenade was detected by police on the roadside during patrolling at Sheikhpora village of Trehgam, about 95 kms from here, late this afternoon, a police officer said.
He said BDS was immediately summoned after the area was cordoned off and theexplosive substance was destroyed in a controlled explosion, without causing any harm.
No one was arrested in connection with the presence of the hand grenade on the roadside, the officer said, adding a case has been registered and further investigations are on.
