Heat wave sweeps Pb, Haryana; Hisar sizzles at 45.5 deg C

Severe heat wave continued to sweep Punjab and Haryana as the mercury rose in the two states, with Hisar scorching at 45.5 degrees Celsius and capital city Chandigarh recording the hottest day of the season at 42.7 degrees Celsius today.

Temoperature in Hisar in Haryana was five degrees above the normal and continued to be the hottest place in the two states on the second consecutive day, the MeT Department here said.

Like most other places in the region, Chandigarh recorded hottest day of the season so far, as the mercury shot to 42.7 degrees Celsius, six degrees above the normal.
 

Sweltering heat also swept Ambala where the maximum temperature settled at 43.7 degrees Celsius, six notches above the normal.

There was no relief for Karnal residents from the intense heat, with maximum temperature settling at 42.4 degrees Celsius, five notches more than normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar had a hot day at 43.4 degrees Celsius, up six notches than normal.

Blistering heat swept Ludhiana at 43.4 degrees Celsius, six notches more than normal while Patiala's maximum settled at 43.9 degrees Celsius, also six notches more than normal level.
