A 55-year-old helper at a temple was killed while trying to save a seer from an attacker in the temple premises in Etmadpur village, police said today.
Haridas was killed while saving Amardas, a seer at a Shiv Temple, at Parikshitgarh area in the village, after he was attacked by one Devi Singh, a resident of Dalampur, on the road, they said.
The incident happened when Amardas ran towards the temple to save himself. Haridas was hit with a spade by Singh when he intervened, killing him on the spot, police said.
A case has been registered following a complaint by the victim's son, police said, adding, investigations are underway.
