High humidity in south Bengal leads to discomfort

High humidity and high maximum temperature prevailed in the southern part of West Bengal today caused discomfort to people even as the sub-Himalayan districts received heavy rainfall.

As the monsoon remained subdued in the southern districts, the Met department predicted similar weather to prevail for at least two to three days in Gangetic West Bengal, while in sub-Himalayan West Bengal there is likely to be moderate to heavy rain tomorrow and the day after.

Cooch Behar recorded 175.2 mm rainfall in 24 hours from yesterday morning, while Jalpaiguri received 32.2 mm rainfall during the same period.

The highest day temperature in the state was recorded at Bankura at 35.5 degrees Celsius, which was closely followed by neighbouring Asansol in the western part of the state at 35.2 degrees Celsius.
 

Kolkata recorded the day's highest temperature at 34 degrees Celsius, while the night temperature was 28.1 degrees Celsius, both two notches above normal.
