Condemning the terror attack in Paris, Muslim organisation Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind today said that Islam's name is being misused by killing innocent people in name of the religion.
The organisation's heneral secretary and former MP, Maulana Mahmood Madani also claimed that Muslims are being unnecessarily attacked and connected with terrorists.
"It is unfortunate that certain 'elements', intentionally or unintentionally attribute these mindless act of violence with Islam and connect terrorists with jihadis. Waging jihad is a positive act intended to root out evils from the society not killing innocent people," Madani said during a press conference here.
"It is quite obvious that accusing Muslims and holding them responsible for these ghastly killings will no doubt strengthen the deviated radical forces, who in no way represent Islam," he said.
Condemning the terror strikes in Paris, Turkey and Lebanon, Madani said that Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and its affiliate organisations will stage protests tomorrow in various parts of the country.
Disagreeing with UP Minister Azam Khan's remarks that Paris terror attack could be a "reaction" to the "killing of innocents" in Arab countries by the "superpowers", Madani said that no such "reactions" can be justified and there is not place for any reactions in Islam.
The Muslim leader also asked powerful nations to stop providing patronage to terror groups.
"Terrorists have spread a painful atmosphere for Muslims across the world and terror activities are being used as a pretext to attack Islam.
"Till the time powerful nations stop providing patronage to terror groups, terrorism cannot be eliminated from the world," he said.
