It was my leg in 'The Graduate' poster: Linda Gray

The iconic promotional image for the 1967 movie showed a young Dustin Hoffman eyeing up an anonymous stocking-clad leg.

But instead of belonging to the film's female lead, Anne Bancroft, that leg was actually that of Gray, now 72, who began her career as a model before finding fame as an actress in the seventies, reported Daily Mail online.

"I think Anne Bancroft was absent that day. I don't know. I got paid 25 dollars, one leg," Gray said.

Indeed Gray has enjoyed an impressive career since her body double days.

In addition to her most famous role, as Dallas's Sue Ellen Ewing, she co-starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in the 1991 film 'Oscar' and was on 'Melrose Place' in 1994.

 

In recent years, she has appeared in 'The Bold and the Beautiful' and in 2008 had a role in '90210' and famously reprised the 'Dallas' role last year in the continuation of the eighties series.
