Jeera prices rose by 1.88 per cent to Rs 15,180 per quintal in futures trade as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions, driven by tight supplies from producing regions at spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April month was up by Rs 280, or 1.88 per cent to Rs 15,180 per quintal with an open interest of 17,910 lots.
Likewise, spice for delivery in March contract traded higher by Rs 275, or 1.87 per cent to Rs 14,985 per quintal in 585 lots.
Analysts said speculators built-up fresh positions, supported by tight supplies from producing region against increased demand, mainly pushed up jeera prices in futures trade.
