JK ministerial team visits Zanskar, calls for peace

The curfew was clamped in the Buddhist-dominated town on Wednesday after clashes between two communities broke out, in which three persons including a senior official were injured.
The team, comprising cabinet minister from Ladakh, Rigzin Jora, Minister of State (MoS) Home Nasir Aslam Wani, Director General of Police Ashok Prasad visited Zanskar area of Ladakh, a police spokesman said tonight.
They appealed the leadership of various sections of the region to use their influence in bringing peace and normalcy to the area and foil the vicious designs of anti-social elements.
DGP Prasad directed the district police to maintain law and order in the region.
They held an extensive tour of the area, interacted with the representatives of both Buddhist and Muslim communities. MLA Zanskar Feroz Khan, Executive councillor Zanskar affairs Phunchok Tashi, SDM Zanskar and Tehsidar Zanskar too were present in the meeting.
The representatives from both the communities put forth various issues to which members of the team assured timely redressal. They urged both the communities to maintain peace and harmony in the region.
Leaders of both the communities assured that they will extend full co-operation in this regard, spokesman said adding that before flying to Zanskar the team held a meeting with District Administration at Kargil.
