Approval for Installation of Solar Power Plant of 200 MW or more Capacity at the Central State Farm at Jetsar, Rajasthan
The lush green campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University is set to get solar power operated street lights, Vice Chancellor Jagadesh Kumar said today.
The varsity's solar street lights initiative has received aid from the Ministry of New and Renewable energy and is in sync JNU's plan to cut down on its carbon emission.
"Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has agreed to sanction 200 solar street lights to be installed in JNU," Kumar said in a tweet.
A senior university official said, "The campus is abuzz round the clock with the eateries operating till wee hours and the students being active.
"It is therefore important for the campus to be well lit to ensure safety. Having solar power street lights will be another green initiative.
