A day after the members of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers' Association (JNUTA) were stopped from continuing their march to Parliament by the Delhi Police, the teachers' body today announced that it would take part in another protest march on March 28.

The march, organised by the Federation of Central Universities' Teachers' Associations (FEDCUTA) is scheduled to start from Mandi House and conclude at Parliament Street.

It will be taken out to protest against the Centre's move to privatise higher education.

"JNU teachers to join the FEDCUTA People's March in defence of Public Funded Higher Education (from Mandi House to Parliament Street) on 28th March, 2018 at 12:30 pm," the JNUTA said in a statement.

The police had lathicharged and used water canons to disperse the crowd near Sanjay Jheel in Lakshmi Bai Nagar during the "Padyatra" organised by the JNUTA and the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) yesterday.
