Joel McHale to guest star on 'X Files' revival

Comedian Joel McHale will guest star on the upcoming limited TV series "The X-Files".

The "Community" star has been signed for the six-episode revival series, said The Hollywood Reporter.

The 43-year-old actor will join returning stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi in the series written and produced by Chris Carter.

McHale will play Tad O'Malley, the anchor of a popular conservative Internet news network who becomes an unlikely ally for Mulder (Duchovny).

The X-Files, which returns to the small screen after 13 years, will have its limited series premiere on Jan 24, 2016 on Fox.
