Karen 'tricks' to help Mumbai DFA win girls' title

Karen Pais scored a hat-trick to help Mumbai DFA down a fighting School Games Federation of India-1 3-2 in the girls' final of the OORJA-CAPFs Under-19 Football Talent Hunt 2017, played for the Olympian S S Narayan Trophy, here today.

Pais notched the match-winner in the dying minutes of the game after SGFI team came back in the second half to tie the score via goals from Shruti Laxmi and Mamta Acharya.

The corresponding boys' final would be fought tomorrow between Pune DFA and Kolhapur DFA.

Pune DFA defeated Nagpur DFA 2-0 in the semi-final, with Alfred Nikhil and Edwin Faleiro finding the mark once each.
 

Kolhapur DFA got past Mumbai DFA 6-3 via the tie-breaker in the other semi final after the teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regular period of play.

In the tie-breaker, Kolhapur got the better of Mumbai 4-1 for an overall 6-3 aggregate score.
