In a unique rural eastern meet, the Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) is all set to host the 61st Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) here from tomorrow, representing the traditional customs and culture.
Convenor of the Organising Committee, Thepfuhulie Belho said around 600 sportspersons from the four 'khels' (sectors) of the village (Lhisemia, Tsutuonuomia, Dapfhutsumia and Pfuchatsumia) would be participating in different events.
Belho said for the first time a total of 500 children from classes I to VIII would be welcoming the contingents with Tati pfe (mono string music), a traditional musical instrument of the Angami Nagas, while another 200 college girls would be leading the four contingents totally attired in traditional Angami dress.

He also said that competitors would contest for a total of 29 medals (Gold), which include 24 athletic events, two games and the favourite traditional Naga style wrestling during the five day event, which will conclude on January 11.
The events include races, jumps and throws for both men and women in athletics, football for men and volley ball for men and women while the Naga style wrestling would be only for men.
