Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths caught a lady forest guard attached to the Umri forest area red handed on Wednesday afternoon, after she accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant.
According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Satish Deshmukh, the accused had allegedly demanded a sum of Rs 5,000 from a complainant for conducting 'panchnama' on teak wood purchased by him from the forest department and sending a report to higher authorities for their sanction.
"A complaint was lodged with us and we laid a trap in the rented house of the accused Reena Gulabrao Patil (28) in Rani Laxmibai ward number four of Pandharkawda town today. We caught her red-handed while she accepted a Rs 5,000 bribe from the complainant and arrested her," Deshmukh said.
Further investigation is on, he said.
