Country's logistics sector needs more skilled and properly trained manpower to meet the growing demands, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah said today.
"It is high time we develop plans and strategy to meet the growing demands of India's logistic industry. There is an acute shortage of manpower at management and mid-tier levels.
The logistical sector in India needs more skilled personnel. Equipping manpower with right training and education is the need of the hour", he said here

Speaking at a conference on shipping and logistics VIGIL-2015, he said: "...Education in the context of logistics sector needs major evaluation and redesign to enable one compete globally. Logistics education should aim at professionalisation and industry should fully realise the importance of education in logistics."
Giving statistics, he said the overall cargo traffic in 13 ports in the country was 976 million tonne in 2012 and was expected to reach 1,758 million tonne by 2017.
"Enhancing and modernising our ports on par with international standards is necessary. The handling capacity of major ports in India should be strengthened to meet the trade demands," he said.
