Elyse Hollander's Madonna biopic "Blond Ambition" is the top script on the 2016 The Black List, the annual compilation of most-liked screenplays in Hollywood that are yet to be produced.
The script is set in the 1980s New York and chronicles Madonna's struggles to get her first album released while navigating fame, romance, and a music industry that views women as disposal.
The script received maximum 48 votes to top the list, which features 73 scripts this year.
Other stories that have been well-liked on the list include "This Is Us" creator Dan Fogelman's "Life Itself", a multi-generational love story.
The script earned 35 votes to tie with Tony Tost's "The Olympian", the true story of an underdog rower trying to make it into the 1984 Olympics and Liz Hannah's "The Post", again a true story about how Washington Post's scion Katherine Graham and editor Ben Bradlee overcame their differences to publish the story about the Pentagon Papers.
The Black List was compiled from the suggestions of more than 250 film executives.
Zach Dean's "Voyagers", the love story of American cosmologist Carl Sagan and writer Ann Druyan, was at the third spot with 28 votes.
Other important scripts include "In The Blink Of A Eye" by Colby Day, "O2" by Christie LeBlanc, Seth Spector's "Untitled Lax Mandis Project", Matt Fruchtman's "Dark Money", Rosemary Kennedy's story by Nick Yarborough.
"Linda And Monica", the true story of the relationship between Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp, "Hala" by Minhal Baig, "Revolver" by Kate Trefry, "Fairy Godmother" by Chiara Atik and "Free Guy" by Matt Lieberman also feature in the list.
Author Stephen King has two projects on him, featuring in the Black List.
"The Kings of Maine" by Kathy Charles, revolves around King's attempt to write his first novel "Carrie" while Shay Hatten's "Maximum King!", is an outlandish, surreal imagining of how in 1985 King wrote and directed his horror classic "Maximum Overdrive".
The love triangle of Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Pattie Boyd is another script on the list that also features "The Mindy Project" creator Mindy Kaling's untitled comedy about a veteran late-night talk show host who comes close to losing her job after hiring show's first female writer.
