The Maharashtra governor has asked Rajan Welukar to resume his duties as the Vice Chancellor of the Mumbai University.

Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, who is the chancellor of all the universities in the state, issued the directive following the Supreme Court's ruling of February 27, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said today.

The Bombay High Court had earlier asked Welukar to refrain from acting as the VC in the interim as some petitions have challenged his appointment and his credentials.

The Supreme Court last month stayed the HC order.
