In a joint operation with Bihar Police, CBI has arrested the prime accused in the alleged forgery of the then Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh for confirmation of waitlisted railway tickets.
CBI sources said Tarun Kumar Jha, prime accused in the case, has been on the run ever since the case was registered in 2012 on the basis of complaint received from the Minister.
Sources said the agency was on the trail of Jha and teams were sent to Delhi, Bihar and other parts of the country looking for him.
After being arrested by Bihar Police, Jha was taken into CBI custody and produced before special court in Kolkata which sent him to 14 days of police custody.
