A 45-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by his neighbour and her two sons after a verbal spat over a petty issue turned ugly, in Loco colony here, police said today.

The victim, identified as Yogeshwar, a loco-pilot in the Railways, late last night had an argument with his neighbour Murti Devi and her sons - Asraj and Akshay - after he tried to tighten fences between their houses, they said.

Murti and Asraj assisted Akshay as he made a serious blow on Yogeshwar's head with a rod, police said.

Yogeshwar was rushed to a hospital by his relatives but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police has filed a case against the trio, Patiala Chowk police post in-charge Balwan Singh said, adding that efforts are on to nab the accused.
