Mathura Muncipalitty Chairperson, EO, booked for minor's death

Chairperson and the Executive Officer, along with few other employees, of Mathura Muncipality were today booked in connection with the death of a six-year-old boy who fell into a septic tank while playing with five others in Mahavidya colony in the city a day ago, police said.

"An FIR under section 304 of IPC was filed against Chairperson Manisha Gupta, Executive Officer Brajesh Kumar, Contractor Sanjiv Agrawal, Junior Engineer Sanjiv Saran Nigam and several officers and employees of Mathura Mathura Nagar Palika and also some officers and employees of Mathura Vrindaban Development Authority for yesterdays' incident, in which six-year-old Parth had died after falling into a septic tank," they said, quoting the FIR, lodged by the deceased boy's uncle, Naveen Asthana.
 

They have also been accused of using sub-standard material in the construction of septic tank and improper supervision of the construction work.

Yesterday, in an operation that lasted for over four hours, six children were rescued from drowning in a septic tank in Govind Nagar colony here. Parth, who was rushed to hospital after being rescued with other children, was declared brought dead.

Residents blocked Mathura Vrindaban road for over one hour in protest against the death of child and it was lifted only when the agitators were assured of filling of FIR against those guilty, police said.
