Mizoram would soon be declared as open defecation free state, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla said here today.
He said the government had begun campaign for cleanliness by initiating Clean Aizawl and Clean Mizoram since 1980s.
The North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) and the central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under the Swacch Bharat Mission (Gramin) in his presence in Aizawl last night, officials said.
Tata Trust's NEIDA and the YMA signed the MoU, under which the YMA would undertake mass awareness programmes across the state. The NEIDA would provide financial and other logistics support.
