Scores of naga sadhus attached to 'Taponidhi Shri Niranjani Akhada Panchayati' today participated in a grand procession at Trimbakeshwar which is hosting Kumbh Mela 2015 along with Nashik.
Wielding swords and spears, the naga sadhus, with ash smeared on their bodies, rode horses with ceremonial parasols bearing royal insignia. They also carried flags of their Akhada and other paraphernalia, followed by chariots carrying their Mahamandaleshwar and other Acharyas.
The procession, which started from Lord Surya temple near Gangasagar pond, passed through main street of the town to reach 'Kushavart' -- a pond located near ancient temple of Lord Shiva.

Sadhus blew conchs and beat up drums while many citizens including women, and warkaris (devotees of Lord Vitthal) also joined them.
Trimbakeshwar Municipal Council chairman Anagha Phadke, vice-chairman Santosh Kadam, councillors, Trustee of Trimbakeshwar Temple and officials welcomed the procession.
Sagaranand Saraswati of Anand Akhada, president of All India Akhada Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj, Surendra Giri Maharaj, and other seers participated in the procession.
