Press Trust of India New Delhi
Nickel prices were up by Rs 9.20 to Rs 929.50 per kg in futures market today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firming trend overseas and spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in June gained Rs 9.20, or 1 per cent, to Rs 929.50 per kg in a business turnover of 40 lots.

The metal for delivery in October rose by Rs 8.60, or 0.94 per cent, to Rs 922.20 per kg in 1,333 lots.

Analysts said apart from increased domestic demand from alloy-makers, persistent rise in metal prices in global markets, influenced nickel prices in futures trade here.

Globally, nickel in London climbed 1 per cent to USD 14,445 a tonne, advancing for a third day, while the contract for July gained 1.8 per cent in Shanghai to 114,260 yuan (USD 18,402) a tonne.
