One woman killed, three others injured in accident

One woman was killed and three others were injured when they were hit by a speeding taxi on Elius Road in Agarpara of North 24 Parganas district yesterday.

Police said the accident took place when the taxi hit the four women who were returning home after immersion of goddess Kali in the Ganga.

Two persons had boarded the taxi, overpowered its driver, then took to the wheeels and were driving recklessly when the accident occurred, the police said.

While one woman succumbed to her injuries at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, three others were admitted to the state-run hospital where the condition of two women was stated to be serious.
 

The two persons who had boarded the taxi have been arrested.
