The Congress government in the state had introduced many pro-poor schemes, but the opposition was trying to mislead the people, Forests Minister and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge B Ramanath Rai said today.
Speaking to reporters here, Rai said the Siddaramaiah government had taken up popular schemes like 'Anna Bhagya' and 'Ksheera Bhagya' for the benefit of the poorer sections of the society.
"The government is providing free rice for the poor to make Karnataka hunger-free. But a few are criticising the schemes claiming that this will make people lazy," he said.

The government had also introduced several programmes including drinking water projects, housing, loan waiver and various educational schemes for the welfare of socially backward classes.
He claimed that the Congress had good prospects in the coming gram panchayat elections. "The party will be blessed for the good works it has done for the people," he said.
