Pakistani security forces today foiled major terror attempts by militants and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including anti-tank mines and rockets, during raids in the troubled Balochistan province.

Sarfaraz Bugti, home minister of Balochistan, told journalists that authorities have arrested militants and seized a huge cache of arms and explosives during raids in Quetta city and Dalbindin.

"Miscreants wanted to carry out major terror activities in Baluchistan," said Bugti.

He said the raids were successful in parts of Quetta and Dalbindin on the outskirts of the city.

"Security personnel are interrogating the detained suspects."

The minister said most of the arms and ammunition were found in underground storage places in a compound.

These included anti-tank mines, rockets, hand grenades, detonators and other weapons, said Bugti.

He said the arrested militants had disclosed they were being stored to carry out terrorist activities in the province.

Bugti said that "timely action" on part of security forces saved the province from two major subversive activities.
