Parts of Gangetic West Bengal receive heavy rainfall

Large parts of Gangetic West Bengal received good amount of rainfall for the first time this monsoon with the Met department predicting more rains in the region for the next one day.

Sriniketan recorded 85.2 mm rainfall, the highest in the state since yesterday morning.

Kolkata recorded 47.5 mm of rains during the same period and the overcast sky and intermittent rains led to the day temperature come down to 29.4 degree Celsius, four degrees below normal.

Medium to heavy rains were recorded in other parts of Gangetic West Bengal as well with Bankura, Asansol and Burdwan recording 32.6 mm, 44.8 mm and 33.6 mm rainfall.
 

In sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Darjeeling received 68.5 mm rainfall, while Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar received 18.6 mm and 9.4 mm rainfall respectively.

The Met department has forecast generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain in Gangetic West Bengal, while the sub-Himalayan West Bengal is likely to experience heavy rains in the next two days.
