Expressing grief over indifference of the state government towards the Rajasthani films, eminent producer Bharat Nahta has sought soaps from the state authority to infuse life in the local film industry, which is in a miserable condition.
Nahta said that making a Rajasthani film is not profitable because there is no support from the government and the cinema hall owners are not keen on showing regional film.
"We need at least a grant of Rs 75 lac to Rs 1 crore from the government. Though, the Culture and Environment minister of State Bina Kak has announced a financial grant of Rs 5 lac but that is too less to be mentioned," Nahta said.

"Interestingly, the cinema owners, who pay a handsome amount to purchase the films from distributors, demand money from us to show our films in their cinema halls," he added.
Film critic Komal Nahta also said it is disappointing that where other state have provisioned soaps for the promotion of the regional film industry, Rajasthan government has done nothing inspite of the fact that the regional films showcase the culture, history, art and architecture of the state.
Nahta, who has produced 14 Rajasthani films, including the block-buster "Bai Chali Sasariye", said that if government supported the industry here, the glorious days of the Rajasthani films would be back providing not only the job avenues to the people of the region but also recognition to the state as an active harbinger of its culture and heritage.
In other states, regional films have been pulling the masses to cinema halls, generating a huge business parallel to that of Bollywood films. But it has been about two decades, since when any Rajasthani film has hit theatres.
