A pilot project will be launched in three districts of Haryana - Ambala, Karnal and Panchkula - to screen children in the 0-18 years age group studying in government, government-aided schools and anganwadi for any disease, deficiency or defects at birth and developmental delays including disability.
This was informed in a three-day training programme for state-level training of trainers (ToT) that began here today.
Inaugurating the programme, Principal Secretary Health Navraj Sandhu said its objective is early detection and management of the disease.
Early intervention and management can prevent these conditions to progress into severe and debilitating forms and reduce hospitalisation, dropout rate from school and improving school attendance, she said.
