BJP corporator from ward 2 of Rajkot Municipal Corporation Rajendrasinh Zala today quit the party, accusing local leaders of involvement in corruption.
Zala, a former chairman of RMC's standing committee, resigned from the party's primary membership. He sent the resignation to BJP's city unit president Bhikhabhai Vasoya.
Zala had written a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi a couple of months ago, alleging that three senior leaders of Rajkot BJP were involved in corruption.

He had named Vijay Rupani (presently a cabinet minister for water supply in Gujarat government), Dhansukh Bhanderi (chairman of Gujarat Municipal Finance Board) and Nitin Bhardwaj (chairman of RMC's standing committee).
The city unit of BJP hit back at him, saying Zala was greedy for power.
"He had demanded the post of Rajkot city unit president and when it was denied, he started defaming the party," Bhanderi said, adding that Zala's exit would not make any difference as the party is in a strong position.
The civic elections are likely to be held in the next two to three months.
