Revenue dept staff held on graft charges

A revenue department clerk was today arrested here by vigilance police on the charge of demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs 2,000 for issuing a land related document to an advocate.

On a complaint by the advocate, sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti Corruption police laid a trap and caught the Lower Division Clerk "red handed" while receiving the money in his office, police said.

A case had been registered against him under Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation was on, police added.
