Dealers attributed the rupee's fall to gains against other currencies overseas and a lower opening in the domestic equity market.

On Tuesday, the had gained three paise at 68.58 against the US dollar on mild selling of the American currency by banks and exporters despite a higher greenback in overseas markets.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell 141.89 points, or 0.60%, to 23,268.29 in opening trade today.
