SAARC Health Ministers meet Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met the Health Ministers of SAARC countries and stressed on the need for sharing of the best practices and vision in the fields of modern medical science and health care.

Modi also suggested a joint visit to places of research being done at grassroots level in this regard, according to an official statement.

The Health Ministers of SAARC countries were in India for their fifth meeting.

They apprised the Prime Minister of the deliberations during their meeting here today, including their intent to make the entire SAARC region polio-free.

They said changing the lives of the people of the region required a focus on health and education sectors, with a multi-sectoral approach.
 

They praised Modi's initiative towards the adoption of June 21 as International Yoga Day by the United Nations, saying Yoga could be an effective means of preventive healthcare, the statement said.
