School student drowns, another missing as boat capsizes

A country boat carrying 16, including 11 school students, capsized in Bengajan water body near Kalitakuchi village under Hajo police station with the passengers falling into the water.

The locals rescued 14 passengers but a girl drowned and another student was missing.

District authorities have launched a search operation to rescue the missing student.

Six school students, including two girls, drowned in two separate boat capsize incidents in Assam's Morigaon district while 12 others were either rescued or swam to safety yesterday.
