Congress workers today staged a protest march here demanding dismissal and arrest of Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Ram Murti Verma who is accused of orchestrating the murder of a journalist in the state.
Led by Congress state president Nirmal Khatri, party's district and city unit workers started the march from the GPO park here, which however was stopped midway by the authorities, a party release stated.
Charging that the state government was bent on protecting the minister, Congress said the family of Jagendra Singh was sitting on dharna in Shahjahanpur seeking justice, it said.

Singh was allegedly set on fire during a police raid at his house in Awas Vikas Colony in Sadar Bazar area of Shahjahanpur on June 1. He succumbed to the injuries on June 8 during treatment at hospital.
The party also handed over a memorandum to Additional City Magistrate demanding CBI probe into case, Rs 20 lakh as compensation to his family and full security for journalists.
