Seven candidates in poll fray from teachers' constituency

A total number of seven candidates remain in the poll fray from the Guntur-Krishna Teachers' Constituency biennial elections to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council after scrutiny on Friday, official sources said.

Among those, K S Laxmana Rao, the sitting MLC is also in the contest with support from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) affiliated teachers trade organisation UTF.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 2, while polling will be held on March 22, instead of March 16 as announced earlier.

Counting will be held on March 25 instead of March 19.

Polling had been postponed due to class ten examinations in the state, Returning Officer and Guntur District Collector Kantial Dande said.
