Six more die due to encephalitis; toll 285

Encephalitis menace continued unabated in eastern UP where six more children died, taking the death toll in the disease to 285 this year.

The six children died in the last two days at the BRD Medical College Hospital, health officials said today.

As many as 12 people suffering from the disease were admitted to the hospital today, they said, adding 158 patients are being treated at BRD-MCH and different government hospitals in the region.

This year, 1374 persons suffering from the disease were admitted to these hospitals, of which 285 died, they said.
