Congress President Sonia Gandhi today condoled the demise of former Union Minister E Ahamed, remembering him as an outstanding Parliamentarian.
"He was a committed democrat and beloved leader of Kerala, whose simple lifestyle and commitment to the cause of people was an example to an entire generation," Gandhi said.
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also expressed condolences on the Kerala leader's death.

"Deeply saddened by the demise of Shri E Ahamed. A veteran parliamentarian& a valued colleague, he served his country with honour &dedication.
"My thoughts & prayers are with his family & loved ones in this time of grief," he said in a tweet.
78-year-old Ahamed passed away in the wee hours today at RML Hospital here.
The MP from Kerala's Mallapuram suffered a cardiac arrest during the President's address to the joint sitting of Parliament yesterday.

Sonia Gandhi in her condolence message to Ahamed's son said the departed leader was widely respected and admired for his sincerity and dedication with which he undertook every task.
She said Ahamed's qualities and diplomatic skills made his strike a rapport with leaders of several countries.
"I personally mourn his loss as a warm and loyal friend, a man with a simple, modest way of life who cared deeply for the under-privileged and vulnerable and always put their interests first, and a leader of broad vision, humanity and integrity. Smt Indira Gandhi and Shri Rajiv Gandhi also held him in high esteem," she said.
Gandhi also said his many admirers and supporters will always honour his memory and be grateful for his "rich contribution to our national life".
