Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik today handed over Rs one lakh to the chief minister's relief fund from the sale of his art work for succour to the cyclone and flood-hit people of Odisha.

Patnaik's sand art on canvas on Cyclone Phailin that devastated the state in October was purchased by Chairperson of JSW Foundation Sangita Jindal.

"As an artist, I wanted to support the victims of cyclone and flood in our state through my art. I decided to sell some of my art works, requested my fans and sand art lovers to support me and reduced the price to Rs one lakh. The Chairperson of JSW Foundation Sangita Jindal bought a sand art on canvas," Pattnaik said.

In his last exhibition, Pattnaik had sold a sand art on canvas for Rs 5 lakh and created many sand sculptures, appealing to people to extend their help to the victims of cyclone and floods.

So far, Pattnaik has participated in more than 50 international sand art championships and festivals.
