Press Trust of India New Delhi
Sugar prices advanced by 0.44 per cent to Rs 3,427 per quintal in futures market today as participants engaged in enlarging positions, triggered by uptick in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in May month gained Rs 15, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 3,427 per quintal with an open interest of 1,24,460 lots.

Likewise, the sweetener for delivery in March contracts traded higher by Rs 12 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 3,320 per quintal in 5,040 lots.

Analysts said besides rising demand from retailers as well as bulk consumers in the spot market, pause in supplies mainly kept sugar prices higher at futures trade.
