Sugar rises on seasonal demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar rose at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to good offtake from stockists and retailers amid ensuing seasonal demand.

Medium sugar (M-30) climbed by Rs 28/29 per quintal to Rs 2,820/2,971 from last Saturday's closing of Rs 2,792/2,942.

Small sugar (S-30) moved up by Rs 10/31 per quintal to Rs 2,702/2,832 as compared to Rs 2,692/2,801 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,702/2,832 (Rs 2,692/2,801).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,802/2,971 (Rs 2,792/2,942).
