Sugar rises on brisk demand, tight arrivals

An upward trend in sugar prices remained unabated for the third day and rose by Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following rising demand from stockists and bulk consumers against restricted supplies by millers.

Marketmen said apart from pick up in demand from bulk consumers and retailers, restricted supplies by millers also helped sugar prices to rise.

In the millgate section, sugar Anupshaher, Morna, Nazibabad and Chandpur were up by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,290, Rs 2,300, Rs 2,290, Rs 2,300 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar Mawana, Dhanora and Dhampur also improved by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,385, Rs 2,340 and Rs 2,330 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 25.00-30.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,460-2,620 S-30 Rs 2,450-2,610.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,280-2,450 S-30 Rs 2,270-2,440.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 2,385, Kinnoni Rs 2,450, Asmoli Rs 2,410, Dorala Rs 2,360, Budhana Rs 2,360, Thanabhavan Rs 2,350, Dhanora Rs 2,340, Simbholi Rs 2,430, Modi Nagar Rs Not Traded, Khatuli Rs 2,430, Dhampur 2,330, Ramala Rs 2,300, Bulandshaher Rs 2,310, Anupshaher Rs 2,290, Baghpat Rs 2,310, Morna Rs 2,300, Sakoti Rs 2,300, Chandpur Rs 2,300, Nazibabad Rs 2,290 and Malakpur 2,320.
