Telangana excise task force raids ephedrine manufaturing unit

The Telangana State Excise Task Force raided a manufacturing unit in Cherlopally area and seized 155 kg of ephedrine, a narcotic substance, which was being illegally manufactured, officials said today,

Three people were taken into custody and a case has been registered under the NDPS Act, Director of Telangana's Drugs Control Administration Arun Sabharwal said.

The cost of ephedrine in the black market is about Rs 5 lakh per kilogram, the official said.

Ephedrine is a narcotic precursor chemical which is used to manufacture illicit narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances like meth and crystal, the official said.
