Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s condition is improving but still remains critical. Thackeray was responding to medicines and treatment. However, anxious and worried party members continued to visit Matoshree to know about ailing leader’s health.
"Balasaheb is doing better every passing day due to the good wishes of the people," senior Sena leader and former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi told the media today outside Thackeray's residence.
Party MP Anil Desai also said Thackeray was stable and responding to the treatment. He informed that Thackeray's son and party executive president Uddhav is expected to provide status check by late evening.
Incidentally, Mumbai was crawling back to normal following yesterday’s spontaneous bandh observed in certain eastern and western suburbs. The city traffic was back on the roads, even as security remained tightened. Mumbaikars in general were back to their works and businesses.
Shops were open in Dadar near the Shiv Sena Bhavan, the headquarters of the party. Shops were also open in Mahim and Matunga. Dadar market, too, open. But in some parts, traffic seemed to be less than regular in the city.
However, area around Matoshree continues to remain under high alert. More than 1,500 police personnel and teams of rapid action force have been deployed there.
